*Opposed major pro-life protections and voted against LB 574 in 2023, Nebraska’s law restricting abortion at 12 weeks and prohibiting transgender procedures on minors. When asked about abortion during her 2026 campaign, Walz indicated she is pro-choice but said she would uphold the constitutional amendment approved as Initiative 434 in 2024, which prohibits elective abortions after the first trimester. “I think that it really is between a woman, their family, and their doctor,” Walz said.

*Opposed LB 374, The Parents’ Bill of Rights and Academic Transparency Act, in 2023 and, as Chair of the Education Committee in 2022, presided over the hearing on LB 768, a bill to prevent the State Board of Education from adopting controversial sex-education standards, which was held in committee and did not advance.
